Sericin is removed from raw silk before absorbing collagen derived protein into it, and then twisting the yarn and saturating it with water. Next step is keeping it for 10 to 20 minutes at 130-140 degrees C under press. of 3-3.5 atmos. The yarn is then reverse-twisted and treated in saturated water vapour, so that its fibres acquired uniform curl shrinkage. Lower temp. and press. conditions than usual improve strength and durability.
|
