CONTROL METHOD FOR SEEING AND HEARING PROGRAM IN ADVANCE IN SETTOP BOX

PURPOSE: A pre-engagement audition controlling method is provided to automatically control a power of a set-top box and a television at a program pre-engagement time. CONSTITUTION: If a user requires a display of program guidance information via a user interface(102) in the state of receiving a video signal(100), the central processing unit detects the program guidance information from the received video signal and displays the detected information on a television monitor(104). If the user inputs a pre-engagement program through the television monitor based on the displayed program guidance information, the central processing unit of a set-top box confirms whether the user inputs a pre-engagement program(106). A pre-engagement audition program time and information related thereto are stored in a memory(108).
