PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect an object without being affected by the variance of illumination by setting a reference point in an arbitrary position. SOLUTION: A multiple reference point selection means 16 selects plural reference pixels for each of noticed pixels of a picture, and a background model generation means 10 generates an illumination variance background model, where the luminance of the background is changed by an influence of illumination variance, for these noticed pixels and reference pixels. A distance calculation means 12 calculates distances between the illumination variance background model and points represented by pairs of luminance values of background pixels corresponding to noticed pixels and reference pixels in a luminance space. An object discrimination means 14 discriminates whether notices pixels are pixels representing the object or not on the basis of these distances. |
