PURPOSE: A cylinder discriminating and reference angle setting method having a noise prevention function is provided to inform of the generation of an error by stopping up-counting operation and setting a flag if noise is included in a crank angle signal or a cylinder signal, thereby preventing the generation of error in the discrimination of cylinder and the reference angle setting of an engine control unit. CONSTITUTION: A cylinder discriminating and reference angle setting method having a noise prevention function includes the steps of setting a crank angle noise flag to 1 if a crank angle signal includes noise in case of interrupt due to the crank angle signal(S2-S4), increasing a count number of a crank angle counter if noise is not included in the crank angle signal and determining whether a cylinder signal includes noise if the cylinder signal is high(S5-S7), setting a count valve of a cylinder counter to 0 and a cylinder noise flag to 1 if noise is included(S8,S9) and increasing the count value of the cylinder counter by 1 in the other case(S10), setting a cylinder noise flag to 1 if the count value is 1 in case of interrupt due to a cylinder signal(S12,S14), determining whether the count value of the cylinder counter is 1(S15) and setting a cylinder number and the cylinder counter to 0 if yes(S17,S18), and setting the cylinder counter to 0 after increasing a cylinder number by 1 in the other case(S16,S19).
