PURPOSE: An apparatus is provided to increase a signal transmission distance and improve effectiveness of communication system. CONSTITUTION: A multiple type air conditioner is constituted by a single outdoor unit and a plurality of indoor units, the outdoor and indoor units having a micro computer(11) for controlling an operation of the system, and a transmitting/receiving circuit unit for transmitting or receiving information through an electric power line. The transmitting/receiving circuit unit comprises a carrier signal generating unit(12) for generating a pulse signal of a specific frequency, a modulation unit(13) for mixing the information data output from the micro computer with a pulse signal generated from the carrier signal generating unit and outputting a signal suitable for communication, a coupling circuit unit(14) connected to an electric power line and which performs coupling and isolation for the information signal and the power voltage signal, a sensing circuit unit(16) for detecting a carrier signal, via the coupling circuit unit, from the signal output from the electric power line, and a demodulation unit(17) for comparing the signal output from the sensing circuit unit with the carrier signal and demodulating information data.
