PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow all CATV systems to configure a LAN. SOLUTION: The confluent noise of a LAN employing the CATV system is eliminated. The frequency band of incoming high frequency modulation signals in a multiple dwelling house network 50 is selected to be a guard band. Thus, most of confluent noise from terminals is eliminated and the signal can reliably be sent to a central device even through the existing multiple dwelling house network 50 where much confluent noise is included. Furthermore, as the frequency band of an downstream signal, an idle band of 7ch, 8ch (188-198 MHz) in common to all TV stations is used. Moreover, the frequency of an upstream high frequency modulation signal for the guard band is converted into a prescribed frequency and the resulting signal is transmitted to the entrance of the multiple dwelling house network 50 and a frequency converter 60 to bypass the TV signal is provided to the entrance. Thus, the LAN employing an existing CATV reception system can reliably be operated.
