PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a screen mask having general purpose properties which is capable of fine adjusting the pattern of a mask membrane in compliance with printing conditions. SOLUTION: This screen membrane comprises a mask frame 1, a screen mesh 10 which has a mesh inclined obliquely to the mask frame 1 and is tensely stretched within the mask frame 1, a mask film 12 fitted to the screen mesh 10 in a specified pattern and a mask frame stretching/contracting mechanism 20 which is arranged outside the moving region A of a squeegee 30 to be moved on the screen mesh 10 and stretches/contracts the mask frame 1 in the squeegee moving direction. The pattern of the mask film 12 is fine adjusted by stretching/ compressing the screen mesh 10 following the stretching/contraction of the mask frame 1 by a mask frame stretching/contracting mechanism 20.
