PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To have an arm of industrial robot spaced from a work then for having it moved to a waiting position with preventing certainly interference with the work in spite of its operation stopping position. SOLUTION: An industrial robot to operate for a work W by using an operating means 4 mounted on a tip of an arm 3 comprises a control means 6 adapted to have the arm 3 moved to a predetermined position when operation by the operating means 4 is stopped, an evacuating control means of which the control means 6 moves the arm 3 to a predetermined direction by a predetermined distance then to move it to the waiting position when the control means 6 moves the arm 3 from the operation stopping position to the waiting position, and a setting memorizing means adapted to memorize settings in the predetermined direction and the predetermined distance in advance.
