PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a load gathering and distributing system capable of informing a gathering/distributing center about the receipt and delivery of loads without requiring the person in charge to return to the center. SOLUTION: Bar code data is read by a bar code reader 1 when loads B are gathered and distributed, and the read data is converted into a photo-signal by an IR unit 3 and also into an electric signal and is transmitted by a connector means to the input terminal 2A of a portable wireless unit 1, and from its antenna, signals are transmitted in the form of electric waves to a transmitting/receiving wireless means 4 on the side with a gathering/distributing center, and management of gathering and distributing the loads B is performed on the basis of the bar code data received which the gathering/distributing center has received.
