[Class 38 (iv)] Voltage.-The voltage of an A.C. circuit 8 is regulated to constancy by an induction disc motor or relay having operating coils 4, 5. The coil 4 is in series with a resonant circuit comprising condenser 3 and variable saturable reactor 1. Upon variation of voltage the current in the saturating winding 2, which current is obtained from a rectifier 7, changes and alters the phase of the current in the coil 4 relatively to that in coil 5, whereupon the motor effects the necessary regulation. The constant phase of the current in the coil 5 is adjusted by a condenser 9, and if desired by a phase shifter 6. Upon deviation of voltage the phase of the current in coil 5 can be changed in the opposite direction to that in coil 4 by a saturable reactor 12 connected in parallel with the condensor 9. The change in the saturating current obtained from the rectifier 7 can be enhanced by causing it to vary the saturation of a reactor 10 in series with the rectifier. Another resonant circuit 11, 31 in parallel with the circuit 1, 3 can be added so as to prevent regulation until a predetermined variation has occurred.</p> |
