PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a safe pH improver for soil capable of improving the soil even when the pH thereof is extremely high and extremely low and creating a moderate soil close to a neutral state and excellent in hendleability by including a mixture of sulfur with a coal ash. SOLUTION: This pH improver comprises a mixture of (A) preferably 15-60 wt.%, more preferably 20-50 wt.% of sulfur, e.g. a by-product (having preferably 0.1-5.0 mm grain diameter) in a stage of refining petroleum or natural gas with (B) a coal ash (having preferably 1-100μm grain diameter) such as a fly ash discharged from a fluidized bed combustion boiler or a pulverized coal combustion boiler. The grain diameter of the pH improver is 1-10 mm and the pH improver is obtained by mixing the sulfur with the coal ash at 110-150 deg.C temperature. The amount of the pH improver applied to soil is usually within the range of 100-500 kg/are, preferably within the range of 30-300 kg/are. |
