PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently specify an influence part where an application program is necessary to be corrected by designating a high-order group item until an item becomes unique when the investigated items do to become unique and designating a digit position and the number of physical digits for showing a part of item to be investigated. SOLUTION: An item name is designated and it is stored in an item designation file 3. A high-order group item name is also designated so that the item of an investigation object becomes unique. Data are retrieved while a copy phrase is developed in accordance with the language specification of a program by using the extraction tool 4 of instruction/item definition. Thus, all instructions using items of the investigation object are extracted and they are stored in the extraction file 6 of instruction/item definition. The item definition of the item which is used is extracted by the extracted instruction of the extraction file 6. The number of physical digits and the digit positions are added to all the extracted item definitions and they are stored in the extraction file 6 by using the extraction tool 4 of the instruction/definition.
