DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CALCULATING SIMILARITY OF MOVING IMAGE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To calculate precise similarity when time positions for extracting a featured value at variable time intervals by converting the moving image featured value of a section of a moving image to be retrieved to a featured value corresponding to inquiring time information. SOLUTION: A moving image featured value correcting means 24 for correcting a moving image featured value inputted in accordance with given time information converts the featured value 23 of a retrieving object moving image to the corrected featured value 25 of the retrieving object moving image matched with inquiring time information 11 by referring to the information 11 for designating a time position for extracting the featured value and time position information 22 of the section of the moving image to be retrieved included in a moving image data base 21. Namely the means 24 interpolates the featured value at the same time position when the frame featured value of the section of the moving image to be retrieved does not exists with respect to the time position to be a given reference. A moving image featured value similarity calculating means 41 compared the corrected featured value 25 with an inquiring moving image featured value 14 to calculate the similarity of both of them.
