PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a picture storing device and a television receiver and a picture appreciating system for appreciating a digital still picture photographed by a digital camera as one part of the function of a home television receiver. SOLUTION: This picture storing device 4 which can be connected with a television receiver 1 is provided with a large capacity of storage part 4f which stores plural digital still picture data, a control part 4e which reads the digital still picture data from the storing part 4f, an input part which transmits a control signal from the television receiver 1 to the control part 4e, and an output part which outputs a still picture signal based on the digital still picture data read from the control part 4e.
