摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure the shape of a tooth profile with high accuracy without a need of a magnifying lens by irradiating a brake roll with a laser beam and calculating the distance up to its surface from the incident position of its reflected light. SOLUTION: While a brake roll 1 is being turned by a support means 11, a laser beam is emitted to the brake roll 1 from a projector 19. Then, the laser beam which is scattered and reflected by the surface of the brake roll 1 is detected about an image formation position is a photometric part. Thereby, a distance up to the brake roll 1 is measured, and the shape of a tooth profile which is formed on the brake roll 1 is measured. At this time, it is preferable that the rotational speed of the brake roll 1 in its measurement is set normally at a surface speed of 0.5 to 5 mm/sec and that the beam diameter of the laser beam is set at 10 to 50μm. An output signal from a photodetector 20 is amplified by an amplifier 26 so as to be input to a computing device 27. The computing device 27 detects the image formation position of the reflected laser beam, it detects the shape of the tooth profile, and it outputs its result to a recorder 28.
