PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lightweight electric musical instrument allowing a performance even in a non-contact state. SOLUTION: This electronic musical instrument has an operation part 1; a plurality of detection electrodes 13-16 provided in the operation part 1; a ground electrode 11 provided in the operation part 1 and insulated from the detection electrodes 13-16 with an insulating means 12; a plurality of detection circuits 23-26 corresponding to the detection electrodes 13-16, for detecting a change in capacitance between the detection electrodes 13-16 and the ground electrode 11; and a control circuit connected with the detection circuits 23-26 in parallel. The control circuit controls sound production of musical scales corresponding to detection states of the detection circuits 23-26.
