PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit a proper use of power source when a power source is used by changing it over between a camera and an external device, by selecting a power source for supplying electric power to the camera and the external device according to the judgment result of a judging means. SOLUTION: When the electronic camera 10 is connected with an external stroboscope 20, controllers 11, 21 judge the kinds of individual power sources, and also judge the power supply capacities of each power source and the power required for each device. Moreover, the information judged by the controller 21 on the side of the external stroboscope 20 is transmitted from the external stroboscope 20 to the electronic camera 10 via communication parts 22, 12. A judgment is made by the controller 11 on the electronic camera 10 based on this information, the judgment result is transmitted to the controller 21 on the external stroboscope 20 via the communication parts 12, 22. The information based on the judgment results are transmitted from each controller 11, 12 to switching control parts 15, 25 to change over the switches of selecting parts 16, 26.
