The detector has an electronic circuit that identifies notes or coins and uses spectrophotometric techniques to detected forgeries. A microprocessor controls detection and authentication and also drives screens identifying the currency and showing its converted value. An EEPROM memory can be remotely loaded with spectrophotometric and magneto-resistive data through a communication interface.
