PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent collapse of spacers and to produce a liquid crystal display device having excellent display quality with good productivity. SOLUTION: The resin compsn. for a spacer contains at least a filler and is to be formed on a substrate for a liquid crystal display device. The refractive index nf(λ) of the filler and refractive index nr(λ) of the resin at wavelengthλnm in 350 to 650 nm region satisfy the relation of|nf(λ)-nr(λ)|<=0.2.
