PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an error in data communication by incoming call notification by not informing a slave device which is in data communication when there is incoming call from a line. SOLUTION: When not a telephone call, but a data communication is carried out, an incoming call process is not automatically performed. For example, a CPU 101 reads a program based upon a specific flowchart out of a program memory 102 and executes it to carry out the incoming call notifying operation of a master device 100. Here, the CPU 101 checks a communication mode between the master device 100 and slave device when judging that the master device 100 and slave device are communicating with each other. When it is judged that the communication mode is a non-telephone-call mode (data communication), no termination notice is given and a busy system indicating a line busy state is sent back over a control channel to expect the line to be disconnected. Namely, a disconnection signal from the control channel is expected and once the disconnection is confirmed, the sequence ends.
