PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance discharge capacity and coulomb efficiency and moreover improve safety by using active carbon as a polarized electrode and then using, for the electrolyte, under the coexistence of acid, at least a kind of salt among the lanthanoid element salt, alkali earth metal element salt and d-block element salt. SOLUTION: For the electrolyte of the electric double-layer capacitor, the aqueous solution electrolyte of at least a kind of salt of the lanthanoid element salt, alkali earth metal element salt and d-block element salt is used in combination of acid. As the lanthanoid element, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu or the like may be used and as the alikali earth metal element, Mg or Ca is used. As the d-block element, Ti, V, Cr or Mn or the like may be used. As the salt, chloride, sulfuric acid and nitric salt of these elements may be used. Moreover, as the inorganic acid, it is required to add the hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid and chloric acid in the amount giving the pH value of 4 or less. |
