The invention relates to an insulating device (5) comprising a base body (10) and at least one component (20), especially a sensing device or an electric circuit, which is arranged on an area of the surface of the base body (10). An area of said base body (10) is provided with at least one insulating region (30) which is comprised of a polymeric material. The component (20) is in direct contact with areas of the base body (10) and with areas of the insulating region (30). The invention also relates to a method for producing a thermally and/or electrically insulated region of a base body (10), whereby an area of the base body (10) is provided with at least one insulating region (30) comprised of a polymeric material which conducts heat poorly and/or conducts electricity poorly compared to the base body (10). The inventive insulating device (5) is especially suited as a substrate for thin layer thermoelements, air mass sensors or electric high frequency circuits.
