Variable length buffer cache procedure in file system, involves searching optimum buffer from free list according to demand data size

Variable length buffer comprising node of continuous block is maintained in a B-tree. The free list with list of released buffers is maintained in a buffer cache (38). Optimum buffer is searched from the free list according to demand data size by search apparatus (30) and added in the B-tree. An Independent claim is also included for buffer cache apparatus in file system.
