The number to be called is dialed and validated and the ambient noise is measured, via the mobile phone's microphone, preferably as soon as the setting up of a call can be foreseen, e.g. once the called number is validated. Similarly, the cancellation procedure is started in the called telephone as soon as an incoming call is detected, so that by the time the call is picked up the noise suppression algorithm is effective.
