PURPOSE: A malfunction detecting method for an idle valve is provided to check the operation of an idle speed actuator on the basis of values of an oxygen sensor and a map sensor for smoothing the operation of the actuator to secure a proper air-fuel ratio and an initial driving force. CONSTITUTION: A malfunction detecting method for an idle valve includes the steps of driving an idle speed actuator with stored data by an electronic control unit according to a load state of a vehicle(S20), determining a vacuum degree of an amount of air introduced into a manifold with a map sensor and carrying out feedback fuel amount control if an output voltage of the map sensor is in a predetermined range and a level of an oxygen sensor is in a predetermined range(S40-S60), carrying out feedback fuel amount control if the output voltage of the map sensor is smaller than the range and the concentration of the oxygen sensor is larger than the range(S30,S80,S90), and determining the malfunction of the idle speed actuator if the level of the oxygen sensor is smaller than the range to generate a warning message(S100).
