PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily recognize whether the retrieved result is registered and in a display waiting state or the image is not registered but completed when a detecting means outputs that the image information is not registered about the caller. SOLUTION: Corresponding to a retrieval request from an operation input part 3, a control processing part 4 retrieves registration data on the basis of telephone directory sort information 2. By referring to telephone directory image registration information 14, it is discriminated whether the retrieved result is registered or not. On the basis of the retrieved result of the control processing part 4 and the discrimination of the registration of the image, information corresponding to the retrieved result is read out of a telephone directory character information storage part 5 or telephone directory image information storage part 10 and displayed on a display output part 9. On the basis of the discrimination of the registration of the image, the display on the display output part 9 is changed into display information 16 at the time of no registration of image when the image is not registered or display information 17 at the time of registration of image when the image is registered, respectively as defined.
