PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inline type electron gun reducing the spot diameter of an electron beam focused on a screen surface of a color picture tube by restricting the space charge effect near an electron beam generating part. SOLUTION: This device is structured such that an auxiliary accelerating electrode 5 is provided close to and on a next stage on an anode side of an electron beam generating part 100, and a voltage higher than a dynamic focus voltage, a static focus voltage and a screen voltage and lower voltage than an anode voltage is impressed on the auxiliary accelerating electrode 5, thereby accelerating an electron beam generated from the electron beam generating part 100 to a high speed.
