The workpieces which have a substantially round shaft and work part are supplied to the transfer unit transversely to their longitudinal direction and then in the transfer unit are transferred again between each finishing device (220, 222), preferably through swivel devices (210). During the transfer processes and the finishing processes the workpieces are not moved in their longitudinal direction. The workpieces are clamped in a clamping station during the finishing work. Independent claim describes multi finishing machine for oblong workpieces with at least two milling machines and a transfer unit.
