PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the adjusting time of transmission power with respect to the transmitter of a portable/mobile telephone for transmitting data by a W-CDMA system. SOLUTION: A transmitter is constituted of an oscillator 1, a modulator 2, first and second power control circuit 31 and 32, a power amplifier 4 and an antenna 5. Transmission power is controlled by first and second control voltages outputted to the first and second power control circuits 31 and 32 from a micro computer 6 through D/A conversion circuits 71 and 72. The micro computer 6 stores first control voltage data for outputting first control voltage to the first power control circuit 31 and second control voltage data for outputting second control voltage to the second power control circuit 32. First and second control voltage data are individually adjusted, are combined and are set so that the transmission power is adjusted.
