A transmission includes a gear engaging apparatus to engage free rotating gears using a hydraulic actuator. Gear (17a) is formed to receive a needle bearing (43), which firmly fits on the shaft (2). Between gear (17a) and shaft (2) there is a thrust washer (42) provided to take axial loads. Flat disc (35) is received and concentrically mounted onto gear (17a) by screws (36). The disc (35) is formed to have six lugs (41) and six pivot pins (32). The lugs (41) are equally spaced on the periphery of disc (35). Each lug (41) receives an activating cam lever (37), the cam lever (37) is fork shaped to receive a pivot pin (33). The cam lever (37) is always kept in neutral position by pressure of spring (47) positioned with one end in the disc (35) and other end in the cam lever (37). Each of the pivot pins (32) receives one driving element (30), the driving elements (30) being equally spaced on the periphery of the disc. The driving elements (30) are formed precisely to fit the inner diameter of a driven drum (31). The driven drum (31) is firmly fixed to shaft (2) by grooves (50) or by other mechanical means. Driving elements (30) are connected by return springs (34) at rear and front ends. |
