PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve magnetic recording density by bringing the magnetic conversion circuit of a magnetic head slider close to the surface of a magnetic recording medium. SOLUTION: This slider 20 is constituted by joining, in the end part 15 of a substrate 1, a substrate 1 and a magnetic conversion circuit layer 4, which contains at least a magnetic conversion circuit 6 in the direction crossing nearly orthogonally to the surface of the substrate 1. In this case, the surface 11 of the substrate 1 end part 15 is made flush with the surface 12 of the magnetic conversion circuit layer 4, or the latter 12 is made projecting from above the former 11.
