PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a contour correction device that properly corrects even a contour of a video signal with a wide range of resolution. SOLUTION: An arithmetic processing section 4 detects a maximum display resolution of an input video signal S2 to provide an output of control signals S4A, S4B that specify a contour tailing time width (t) and a contour correction amplitude amount (h) decided on the basis of the maximum display resolution. A contour correction tailing time adjustment section 7 differentiates the input video signal with a contour tailing time width (t) specified by the control signal S4A to provide an output of a differentiation video signal S4B. A contour correction amplitude adjustment section 8 amplifies the differentiated video signal S7 so as to obtain the contour correction amplitude quantity (h) specified by the control signal S4B to provide an output of a contour correction signal S8 with the contour correction amplitude amount (h) and the contour tailing time width (t). An adder section 5 sums the input, video signal S2 and a contour correction signal S8 to provide an output of a video signal S9 whose contour is corrected to a video signal output terminal 9.
