PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a supervisory controller, which enables omission of an external cable for connecting a device body and a failure contact of an apparatus, and easy realization of maintenance and renewal of the apparatus and device body. SOLUTION: A supervisory controller 1, provided with a supervisory control board which supervises and controls the operating condition of an apparatus 10, is provided with a receiving unit 3, while a contact cable 14 is connected to a failure contact 12 of the apparatus 10, which the supervisory controller 1 supervises. To the other end of this contact cable 14, a contact communication unit 16 is connected. If the apparatus 10 fails, the failure contact 12 closes, and a current flows. The communication unit 16 detects this current and transmits this failure occurrence information to the receiving unit 3 of the supervisory controller 3.
