PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser operating favorably in a wide temperature range from -20 deg.C to +70 deg.C. SOLUTION: This optical device is provided with a quantum well laser having a laser cavity formed with a laser medium between a reflecting surface 8 and an outputting surface 9 for reflecting part of optical energy to the cavity, wherein a curved line representing a gain of the cavity has a wavelength function in which a gradient is positive when the wavelength increases, and then the gradient is negative after the maximum value at a wavelengthλmax; and coupling means 2, 3, 4 for coupling laser output to an optical fiber 5 which determines a coefficient of a reflection peak value to the wavelengthλ, and having a fiber network 6 which reflects part of light received from a laser through the optical fiber to the laser cavity via the coupling means 2, 3, 4.
