PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide polyester fibers which do not contain titanium dioxide and can stably be produced in good productivity without deteriorating a drawing speed and a drawing time in a state scarcely generating the fiber breakage and laps of fibers when drawn. SOLUTION: The polyester fibers are obtained by melt-spinning a polyester composition comprising 100 pts.wt. of a polyester which contains ethylene terephthalate units as main repeating structure units, has been copolymerized with a dicarboxylic acid except terephthalic acid and/or a glycol component except ethylene glycol in an amount of 0.1 to 5.0 mol.% based on the terephthalic acid component and does not contain titanium dioxide, and 0.001 to 0.2 pt.wt. of an alkaline earth metal sulfate and/or an alkaline earth metal carbonate.
