摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a foamed metallic material which can improve energy absorption characteristic while having the same components, mass and volume as that by existing technology. SOLUTION: The foamed metal excellent in impact absorption characteristic has <=3.7 mm average air bubble grain size in a foamed metallic body having <=0.20 relative density expressed by a ratio of the foamed metal density to density of a metal with the same components. Further, the foamed metal excellent in energy absorption characteristic is a foamed metallic body which is made of aluminum or aluminum alloy, includes calcium of 0.2 to 5 wt.% to the molten metal as a viscosity thickener and titanium hydride of 1 to 3 wt.% therein as a foaming agent and has <=0.20 relative density and <=3.7 mm average air bubble grain size.
