PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress reduction in removal performances of a CO removal apparatus and to provide a fuel cell with excellent power generation performances by installing an impurity removing means for removing an impurity component in an oxidizing agent gas for selective oxidation in a path for adding the oxidizing agent gas for selective oxidation to the CO removal apparatus. SOLUTION: A raw material gas (methane gas, etc.), is successively fed to a desulfurizing device 11, a reforming device 12, a CO modifying device 13 and a CO removal apparatus, reformed and a hydrogen rich gas having a CO concentration reduced to about 10 ppm is supplied to a fuel electrode 22 of a fuel cell 20. In the operation, an impurity removing means 30 for removing an organic substance such as HCHO, CH3CHO, etc., or an impurity component such as NOx, SOx, etc., contained in the oxidizing agent gas is installed in a path for adding an oxidizing agent gas (air in the atmosphere) for selective oxidation to a reformed gas from the CO modifying device 13. The impurity removing means 30 comprises at least either a combustion part 31 for burning the organic substance or an adsorption part 32 for adsorbing NOx and/or SOx. |
