PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject emulsion displaying excellent photostabilizing effect for long time by binding a group having photostabilizing action selected from hindered amino groups and ultraviolet absorbing groups to the skeleton of a composite resin in emulsion of the composite resin of polyurethane and a polymer of an ethylenic unsaturated monomer through covalent bond. SOLUTION: This emulsion is obtained by covalently binding at least one group having photostabilizing action and selected from hindered amino groups preferably of formula I and ultraviolet absorbing groups preferably of formula II or formula III (A) in the presence of polyurethane-based emulsion (B) to the skeleton of a composite resin emulsion obtained by emulsion polymerization of ethylenic unsaturated monomer at a ratio of >=1.0 mol per 100 g composite resin. In the above mentioned emulsion, the weight ratio of the component A of polyurethane to the component B is preferably (90:10) to (10:90).
