AUTOMATIC STOPPING/RESTARTING DEVICE FOR VEHICLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To always secure stable and satisfactory starting performance by keeping starting time by motor constant after sensing restarting requirement, and thereby suppressing variation of time to the completion of restarting. SOLUTION: Automatic stopping and restarting of an engine 1 of a vehicle having a controller 10 are performed according to running conditions thereof. In such a vehicle, a position of a crankshaft is sensed when the engine 1 is automatically stopped. Delay time is set according to the crankshaft position at the time of stopping. Driving of a motor 2 is restarted when the set delay time is passed upon receiving restarting requirement of the engine 1. It is thus possible to constantly set the time from the restarting requirement to the completion of restarting.
