PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate inconvenience of a recorder where printing is controlled with the data in a memory means using an ink cartridge provided with the memory means. SOLUTION: The ink jet recorder comprises a memory means 12 storing a predetermined data for controlling a recording head 3, and a print control means 10 for reading out a data from the memory means 7 in an ink cartridge 4 at a moment when the ink cartridge is loaded and controlling the recording head 3 based on that data if it is appropriate otherwise executing print operation based the data from the memory means 12 storing a predetermined data. Printing is executed with the predetermined data if the data can not be read out from the semiconductor memory means 7 in the ink cartridge 4 despite of a correct ink cartridge. |
