PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a segment shape retaining device adaptable for a deformed section shield tunnel or a large section shield tunnel and capable of retaining the shape of segments for a long time and preventing deterioration of workability of tunnel excavation. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a base frame 50 connected to a excavation machine body and arranged at the level of the nearly intermediate stage of a shield tunnel, a plurality of shape-retaining units 51 laterally mounted on the base frame 50 in series in the axial direction of the shield tunnel to press the inside face of a segment S, and a mechanism mounting a unit making the shape-retaining unit positioned at the rearmost end side pass through the inside of the rest shape-retaining units 51 pressing the inside face of the segment S and transfer it to the foremost end side.
