PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the power supply control method of an image-forming device for enabling optimum and minimum power consumption by taking into consideration switch timing from a main power supply to a sub power supply, according to the usage state of the image-forming device. SOLUTION: A switch circuit SW12 is arranged between a sub power supply control IC 22 and a transformer T21, so that the switch circuit SW12 can be turned on and off from a secondary-side printer control part 105. Then, the printer control part 105 measures time by a count circuit 29, when the sub power supply is turned on, and turns off the switch circuit SW21 of the main power supply after elapse of certain time period. As a result, when a load is larger (printing mode), the main power supply is turned on, and the sub power supply is turned off, where as when the load is small (standby mode or sleep mode), the main power supply is turned off and only the sub power supply is turned on.
