PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device capable of remarkably improving accuracy in detecting flaws in a magnetic powder flaw detecting method to detect flaws in surfaces of a material to be inspected. SOLUTION: In a magnetic powder flaw detecting method, fluorescent magnetic powder is spread over a material to be inspected 1, and the material to be inspected 1 is magnetized to form patterns of magnetic powder adhered to flaw parts in surfaces of the material to be inspected 1. Then the fluorescent magnetic powder adhered to parts in the surfaces of the material to be inspected 1 except the flaw parts is cleaned as to be removed by cleaning water 2 formed in a plate-shaped continuous fluid to detect the patterns of magnetic powder by visual observation or a detector.
