PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the lifting of a flame of a pilot burner being fanned by air passing through a flame passage hole formed in a cover member to let the flame of the pilot burner pass toward a main burner when the cover for restricting the inflow of secondary air to the main burner is arranged to reduce the generation of nitrogen dioxide, in a burner device which is equipped with a thermocouple to detect the insufficiency of oxygen based on the burning condition of the flame of the pilot burner with a flame hole of the pilot burner set to a flame hole of the main burner. SOLUTION: A partition plate 7 is disposed between a heat sensitive part 6a of a thermocouple 6 and a main burner 2, and a sub flame passage hole 71 to let the flame of the pilot burner 3 pass toward the main burner 2 is so formed in the partition plate 7 that the opening area of the sub flame passage hole 71 is smaller than that of a flame passage hole 43, thereby making a hole for flame passage in a double structure.
