INTERPOLATION METHOD AND DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method and a device that interpolate a part between 1st and 2nd pixels in a video display system. SOLUTION: A 1st pixel has a 1st pixel value and a 1st coordinate on a 1st axis, and a 2nd pixel has a 2nd pixel value and a 2nd coordinate on the 1st axis. A 1st intermediate coordinate between the 1st and 2nd coordinates is generated (320), and a weight factor for the 1st intermediate coordinate is decided (350). The weight factor is decided by giving the 1st intermediate coordinate to a 1st mixed function if the 1st intermediate coordinate is in existence in a 1st domain and by giving the 1st intermediate coordinate to a 2nd mixed function if the 1st intermediate coordinate is in existence in a 2nd domain. A 1st interpolated value is calculated on the basis of a 1st product between the weight factor and a difference between the 1st pixel value and the 2nd pixel value.
