The invention relates to a method for comparing biometric data comprising the followings steps: Generating biometric data using a biometric sensor; reading out an identifier from a reference data memory; selecting and reading out, from a program memory, at least one of the partial programs assigned to the identifier; processing the biometric data so that this data can be compared with reference data stored in the reference memory, and; comparing the processed biometric data with the reference data stored in the reference data memory using the selected partial program that is read out from the program memory.
