The bottle cap consists of a clamping piece(1) with a locking hook and which is secured by a lock nut(2). The locking hook has a conical face and form-locks under the collar of the bottle neck. A sealing element(3) is provided between the clamping piece and bottle neck. The lock nut has a conical face which acts upon the locking hook. An Independent claim is included for a procedure for the sealing of bottles, especially crown cork bottles, in which a clamping piece with a screw mechanism is pressed onto the bottle neck so that the locking hook locks in under the collar of the neck, and the locking hook of the clamping piece is pressed tightly against the conical faces of the collar by the operation of a lock nut.
