Programming circuit for electrically-programmable element

The programming circuit provides a permanent alteration in the electrical conductor path resistance of the electrically-programmable element (F) via an electrical current, provided upon application of a control signal to the control electrode (S) of an electronic switch (T), connected in series with the electrically-programmable element between a pair of supply voltage terminals (V1,V2). The node between the electrically-programmable element and the electronic switch is coupled to a read-out circuit (A) via a protection circuit (1), for limiting the voltage potential at the input (EA) of the read-out circuit during programming.
