A disk apparatus comprises a switch (132) whose internal state is changed when an optical pickup (114) of a movable body (115) is mechanically detected to be moved to the inner periphery of a disk and which is also used for detecting the inner peripheries of a minidisk and a compact disk, and a movable member (131) for changing the internal state of the switch (132) when the movable body (115) is moved to the inner periphery of a disk. The movement of the optical pickup (114) to the inner periphery is detected from the internal state of the switch (132) and the direction of the current supplied to a motor (116) for driving the movable body (115).
