A thermally insulated hose has an inner duct (3) and at least one layer of outer duct (2) filled with a thermally insulating fluid. The outer duct can be a series of separate chambers, or a series of linked chambers through which the insulating fluid can be pumped. The insulating fluid has a low thermal conductivity and a low convection rate. For a pumped system the insulating fluid can be at a selected temperature, and can include an anti-freeze additive.
